How We Improve Using Metrics Part II

Being the Best I Can Be

My personal goal in life is to perform at my best all the time no matter what I do. I believe many of us have this goal and it drives us to focus and overcome many obstacles we face day after day. I may not be good at what I’m attempting generally speaking, but I will never let that keep me from trying my hardest and making improvements. I have a wide verity of skill sets that need constant attention to hone and improve on such as my Support Desk Coordinator role. None the less, it is my personal opinion that no matter what you do, you should always do it to the best of your ability. I want to shed light on my motivators and belief system that is important to me (Jacob). My life situation has changed dramatically in the past decade as I have worked hard to make it more livable. The quality of people around me now reflects on my current life situation. I’ve heard several times that if you want to know what you’re really like, then take a look around at the people you associate yourself with. “If you want to fly with the eagles, you cannot hang out with the crows”. I never believed it until I started paying attention to what was going on around me. I have been in a number of horrible situations that I wouldn’t want anyone to experience. For instance, I spent a few years homeless. Mind you, people were willing to help me get off the streets and they pushed me and devoted time to help me get back into school. What motivates me to do the best I can at whatever I do? My biggest motivator is “Success in Life”. It may sound corny, but this is it for me. We all have been in some low places in life which I think has enabled us to learn and grow. At the end of the day, I want to be happy and successful. Becoming successful in life is not an easy task. It takes determination and self-belief to change habits, and a strong desire to stick with those changes. I’ve made many changes in the past few years and have grown as an individual through hard work and determination. You have to want it badly. If you don’t want to achieve success at it, then you will never be the best at it. I still have a list of things in my life that I want to improve such as my social aptitude and a number of other skills that I am not that great at (writing, cleaning, mechanics, electronics, firewall configurations, etc.), but I’m well on my way. This time I am motivating myself though. I don’t have anyone pushing me to be better. I’m the best that anyone has ever seen me. Now, I have to motivate myself to be better in life. Take a moment and think about your life and the changes you may want to make in it. What do you not like about your current life situation, and how would you go about changing it? Receiving help in your life situation will likely improve your chances of successfully making changes. I’ve received a lot of help throughout my life from friends and family. I’ve also helped people as much as I can when they want to make healthy changes to their lives and helping them find the motivation they need to succeed in the changes they commit to. My promise to myself is that I will continue to improve on the things I am not great at and increase the quality of my life while motivating the people around me to be better in their lives. What’s your promise to yourself?
